What is the difference between IQOS and normal cigarettes?
IQOS differs to normal cigarettes as tobacco is heated instead of being burnt. A tobacco taste is provided without any combustion or cigarette smoke, and the smell from tobacco is also reduced.
According to Phillip Morris International research, the device produces on average a lower level of harmful chemicals when compared to traditional cigarettes*. However, IQOS is not a risk free product and like all nicotine containing products, it is addictive. The best course of action is always to quit all tobacco and nicotine containing products.
*Average reductions in levels of a broad range of harmful chemicals (excluding nicotine) compared to the smoke of a reference cigarette (3R4F). It does not necessarily equal a 95% reduction in risk.
How is IQOS different from e-cigarettes/vaping?
Both IQOS and e-cigarettes are different from smoking as they do not burn anything. E-cigarettes create a vapour from a liquid containing nicotine while IQOS creates a vapour from a HEETS tobacco stick, which contains real tobacco.
How long does it take to use one HEETS tobacco stick? How many puffs?
Each HEETS tobacco stick can be used for up to six minutes or 14 puffs, whichever comes first. This is comparable with a standard cigarette.
How do I clean an IQOS device?
It’s easy. Once a day, remove the cap from the Holder, insert the supplied brush and give it a twist. If there’s any tobacco stuck in there, rotate the device and give it a gentle tap. After every 20th HEETS, do a deep clean, using the cleaning sticks.
